Please join us as we congratulate Scott Litton on his promotion to General Manager. Scott joined Moran more than twenty years ago as a Vessel Agent after a successful career with the U.S. Coast Guard and has since served as Operations Manager of both our Freeport and Galveston offices. With his wealth of knowledge and experience in the Maritime industry, we know that Scott will succeed in this new position.

To our Beloved Jim Black

    July 31, 2023

With profound sadness, Moran announces the passing of our President and CEO James “Jim” Black following a brief illness. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones at his home in The Woodlands, TX at the time of his passing. Jim was more than our fearless leader who guided Moran through dramatic industry changes, though he was exactly that. He was also our friend. All those who knew him knew of Jim’s kindness, his compassion, and his commitment to the maritime industry. The positive impact that Jim made throughout his career is felt not only by those who worked with him, but also by the entire maritime community. We feel a deep sense of loss and will miss Jim very much. Our hearts are with his sons, Adam and Andrew, his friends and family, our employees, and all others who had the pleasure of knowing him. Service arrangements are pending and will be announced at a later date.

Tom Sullivan 50th Milestone

    May 30, 2023

Early this year we celebrated Senior Vice President Tom Sullivan as he reached a milestone of 50 years with Moran Shipping Agencies. Tom is an integral part of our organization, not only because he makes it a point to say “Good Morning” to everyone in our Providence office every day, but because he has a thorough understanding of what it means to succeed at Moran. Tom joined Moran as a Boarding Agent and moved his way up to Operations Manager, then General Manager of Southern New England and General Manager of New England Operations before being appointed to his current role as Senior V.P. In his long career, Tom has had a well-documented affiliation with the maritime industry in New England. He has been a member of the Port of Narragansett Bay, RI’s Propeller Club for over 30 years and served as President from 1981 through 1983. Tom, your continued hard work, dedication, and commitment to the maritime community act as inspiration to us all. We thank you for the past 50 years and look forward to the next. Please join us in congratulating and celebrating Tom Sullivan on this Moran Milestone! #workanniversary #milestoneachievement

Wyndy Jenning 25th Milestone

    April 01, 2023

In April we acknowledged Wyndy Jennings for achieving a milestone of 25 years with Moran Shipping Agencies as the Executive Assistant to our CEO/President, Jim Black. From organizing Moran parties, hosting business luncheons, and scheduling business trips, to assisting Jim in preparing sales reports, balancing check books, and so much more, Wyndy has always worked quietly, effectively, and always in Jim’s best interest. Despite this seemingly endless list of responsibilities, Wyndy still finds time to enjoy tending to her horse and minding her two granddaughters when she’s not at work. Wyndy was the late Beth Black’s best friend in high school (and Maid of Honor at Jim and Beth’s wedding!) and she is truly a part of our Moran family. Jim Black told us “I know it sounds cliché, but I don’t know what I’d do without her…she’s a true friend,” and we couldn’t agree more. Wyndy, your tireless commitment to the work that you do is incredible. You are Jim’s firewall and a true “Texas Girl” at heart. We are so lucky to have had you as a part of the Moran family for the past 25 years. Please join us in congratulating and celebrating Wyndy Jennings on this Moran Milestone!  #workanniversary #milestoneachievement
